Description
Skimmed milk powder (SMP) is a loose, homogeneous powder with a white, uniform color and a typical odor of pasteurized milk, without foreign flavors and aromas. It is a dairy product produced by evaporating fresh pasteurized skimmed cow’s milk in a spray drying process.
Skimmed milk powder is soluble in water and has a high degree of dispersion, making it easy to process in industrial production and ensuring smoothness of the final product. Its foaming properties are also used to improve the texture of some products. In addition, in meat products, skimmed milk powder helps to retain moisture and increase juiciness.

The shelf life of skimmed milk powder is approximately 12 months. The product should be stored in a dry, clean warehouse at a maximum temperature of 25°C and a relative humidity of max. 75%.

Skimmed milk powder is used in the production of a wide range of dairy products, such as yoghurts, milk drinks, cheese analogues, desserts, coffee and tea creamers, and UHT milk. In addition, skimmed milk powder is used in the production of bakery products, confectionery, ice cream and sweets.
Another important use of SMP is the production of food for athletes and infants, because it contains milk protein, which is rich in exogenous amino acids.
