Description
Cytidine (symbol C or Cyd) is a nucleoside molecule that is formed when cytosine is attached to a ribose ring (also known as a ribofuranose) via a β-N1-glycosidic bond. Cytidine is a component of RNA. It is a white water-soluble solid. which is only slightly soluble in ethanol.
Cytosine nucleoside constitutes one of the pyrimidine nucleosides of nucleic acids. Made up of cytosine (the base part) and ribose (the sugar part). It is formed through the hydrolysis of ribonucleic acid. When used with nitrous acid, uridine (pyrimidine nucleoside) can be formed.
